Pictures of you

Have done quite a bit recently. Got a bike, and been on a bike ride (pictures) as well as starting back at school. Had difficulties getting online there, although the networking and IT support is fantastic. I think that is mainly due to the fact that I'm running debian on powerpc, a unique minority amongst computer users at the school - and probably on a wider basis than that as well.

Am also planning on running a couple of events, one of which will be based on the Catalyst Club I visited whilst in Islington-by-Sea. Another, a film night, based on the wide variety of political films I've collected over the years. Should all be interesting. Oh, and by the way, I know the title is misleading.

Of note in the wider, media world is the furore that has been raised recently about Alisher Usmanov, a Russian tycoon
who has recently purchased a substantial stake of Arsenal Football Club. A legal firm acting on his behalf sent take down notices to a number of ISPs and other bloggers, resulting in a whole spate of articles and reproductions supporting the right to free speech. Indymedia UK was one of the groups that received a take down notice, and subsequently published an article exposing the wider story behind this particular event.
